Current owner of a DIR-655 and love it. And this is coming from somebody who has used a WRT54G with DD-WRT. I suggest that you should stick with what you have. If the DD-WRT password change page does not display, your page request times out, or you can't ping 192.168.1.1, make sure both wireless and power lights are on steadily first, then do a hard power cycle (unplug the power from the router--do not do a 30/30/30 reset). Wait a few seconds and plug the power back into the router. Wireless on my end from the DIR-655 to WHR-HP-G54 (WAP using DD-WRT) to WHR-HP-G54 (WAP using DD-WRT) second floor. All 100mbps connects goes to one external 100mbps along with the WAP. Gig Forum discussion: I'm trying to figure out if to go with Linksys WRT310N or DIR-655. The only reason I'm considering Linksys is becouse I want to use DD-WRT on it for reasons below. I need to have Is it possible to use WNDR3700 as a repeater bridge in dd-wrt to connect to a dlink DIR-655 with stock firmware. The DIR-655 doesn't have sufficient range. I wanted to extend it by placing a bridge in a hallway. However, I haven't been able to get the repeater bridge after installing dd-wrt on the Top 10 Best DD WRT Router | Buyer’s Guide and Reviews. The DIR-655 is not supported by DD-WRT. The architecture and memory capacity of the chipset does not lend itself for support. I had one and tossed it. I have 4 routers and all use DD-WRT including an old Linksys WRT-54.

DIR-655 A1/A2 KA2DIR635A1 Ubicom IP5160U The DIR-655 is a very popular router due to the high transfer speeds. I upgraded to the 655 from the WRT54G and the only thing I still miss is the DD-WRT firmware. Someone, please figure this out. There will NEVER be DD-WRT or for that matter any alternate firmware for the DIR-655 or any other router in it's class. Most of D-Link's high end routers use an Ubicom architecture - something that is NOT open source and therefore CANNOT be developed for DD-WRT.

Mar 06, 2009 · With the main router being the Buffalo using DD-WRT V24/SP2 I am able to get these speeds. If the main router was the DIR-655 then I would only get: link speed is 65mbps signal speed is 90% - DIR-655 wireless radio eventhough you can disable it! It's still operating.. Right now that's turned off completely and ta-da better signal without it in Dunno, I haven't touched one yet. But it'll take DD-WRT, which is a real plus. If the DIR-655 supported DD-WRT I woulda recommended flashing to that firmware and seeing if you could make it run properly that way, possibly even by downclocking the router etc.
